Privacy Policy
Last updated 1 August 2026. This policy explains how Lonic handles information when you visit lonic.bond.
Who we are
Lonic is an independent publication operating lonic.bond. For any privacy question or request, email hello@lonic.bond. We act as the data controller for the information described below.
What we collect
- Technical request data. Our hosting and CDN provider automatically processes your IP address, user agent, referring page and the URL you requested, in order to serve the site securely and mitigate abuse.
- Information you give us. If you email us, submit a tip through the contact form, ask a question or subscribe to the newsletter, we hold the name, email address and message you provide.
- Local browser storage. We store your light or dark theme preference in your browser's local storage. It never leaves your device and is not used to identify you.
We do not sell personal data, and we do not build advertising profiles of our readers.
Why we process it
To deliver and secure the website (our legitimate interest in operating a reliable publication), to reply to your correspondence and corrections (legitimate interest, or performance of your request), to send the newsletter where you have asked for it (consent), and to understand aggregate readership so we can decide what to cover next (legitimate interest).
Cookies and similar technologies
Lonic does not set advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Strictly necessary cookies may be set by our CDN for security and load balancing. Where Google services described below are used, they may set cookies in your browser; you can block or delete cookies in your browser settings without losing access to any article.
Third parties that process data for us
- Cloudflare — hosting, content delivery, TLS and security filtering for every request to lonic.bond.
- Google Search Console — aggregate, anonymised search performance data for our own pages.
- Google News / Subscribe with Google — we include Google's Subscribe with Google script so our articles can be distributed through Google News. Google may process device and cookie data under its own privacy policy.
These providers may process data outside your country. Where that happens, transfers rely on standard contractual clauses or an equivalent safeguard.
How long we keep it
Server and security logs are retained for a short operational period by our CDN. Editorial correspondence is kept for as long as needed to handle the matter and maintain a corrections record. Newsletter details are kept until you unsubscribe.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict our processing, to request a portable copy, and to withdraw consent at any time. Email hello@lonic.bond and we will respond within one month. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
lonic.bond is a general-audience news site and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect their personal data; if you believe we have, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page whenever our practices change and revise the date at the top. This policy sits alongside our Terms of Service.
